Previously, statements from your treating doctor concerning your medical problems were seriously considered by those reviewing your case. However, the government has now put a new road block on your chances for getting benefits. Even prior to this new rule it was very difficult to win a case. Less than 50% who apply are successful.
This change supposedly was put in place to streamline the process of getting disability. However, the one person who knows your case better than anyone, your own doctor, is not given special consideration in stating your problem and how his examination affects your ability to work.
Instead, you may be sent to a medical consultant who is called a CE for a one time examination. His report is given the same weight as your long time doctor, even though he will see you only once. Often, this results in a denial.
